Often times in the New Testament, Jesus would separate from His disciples and go away to be by Himself and pray. I always loved reading those scriptures, thinking about how Jesus needed that closeness with the Lord, that time to spend developing His relationship with God, cultivating it, constantly nurturing it. This relationship was the pillar of His existence as the Son of God, His Father the essence of His core, just as He is to be ours.
We live in a day in age when there are so many distractions in life pulling and fighting for our attention and focus. This piece reminds me, that without that alone time with God, how can we truly fill our spirits up with the Living Water that Jesus promised us? We need that time, to connect with God. To pursue His heart, to repent, to humble ourselves, to give thanks…and to hear His voice and get to know the heart of God. I pray this piece blesses you, and helps to remind you to steal away, just as you would make time for your true love. Come what may, may we all grow deeper in our devotion and our passion in pursuing the most important relationship we could possibly have…our relationship with the Lord, the Living God of heaven and earth, Jehovah Shalom.
