For who could possibly know His agony? The pain that He felt? The Son of God, lined up with criminals of the worst kind. Sentenced to death over a mass murderer, the people He was sent to save, were the very people who condemned Him to death. There was no sin, no spot or blemish of character found in Him. The only perfect man in the history of the world, the very Son of God was treated so violently, faced with so much hatred by those who should have been on their faces before Him in worship. Their hearts were twisted, deceived they pressed on. And in complete meekness and in submission to the will of God, He kept the world in mind. Calling on forgiveness on the ignorant He was gentle, looking over to the thief next to Him, He was gracious. Unto death, our Jesus was kind.
Today, billions of people around the world call on the name of Jesus. All Nations know Him, all races put even their own culture aside to follow His ways. Reborn, transformed, redeemed and resurrected…a Kindom of world changers is at play in the world today…all because our Jesus, fulfilled His promise and brought salvation to His people.
Sometimes Christians will get upset that I create art depicting the crucifixion of Jesus. My response to them is I will never, ever forget what the Lord did for me. And when He asks me to take up my cross, I will recall that He took up His cross. When He asks me to lay down my life, I will recall that Jesus, laid down His life. I will never apologize, and I will never forget.
