I imagine that when Jesus was writing in the sand that day, as the Pharisees drug before Him the accused...that He was writing my name, as well as yours. Writing the names of all those who would face their accusers no more.

I am using these sketches as a set. Forgiveness/Salvation: Writing in the Sand is Jesus writing the sins of those accusing the woman as they attempted to stone her and recognized their sin and sought to hate rather than seek forgiveness. The woman sought forgiveness and salvation. Faith: The Healer represents Faith of the woman touching the hem of his robe… these are true loving gifts from our Father to his children, reminding us of His love.

I bought a couple of these prints for Christmas presents. One of them was given to my sister, who is the biggest prayer warrior I know, and who has helped me grow exponentially in my faiths journey. As we are all sinners, we all go through times that we feel unworthy of God’s love for us because of our past mistakes. This beautiful image of Jesus writing in the sand when the sinful woman was brought before Jesus, afterwards he-telling the crowd to let him who is without sin to cast the first stone, and looks up to ask her where her accusers are-reminds us that we are not perfect but all worthy of forgiveness. I cannot express enough how much I love this image!!! What a magnificent gift you have, Vanessa! Thank you for your compassion and love of Our Lord to honor Him in such a beautiful way!!!

I still have this print myself. This for another person. When they were in the hospital we talk about Jesus drawing the line in the sand. It is just appropriate at this time I give him the sketch print that I know he will appreciate deeply. He made it through everything 7 mini strokes with one being a bleed as well as a heart attack. He was off the ventilator in 3 weeks, he also was walking in PT 60 feet with minor weakness for 1 week, the trach with respiratory weaning for 2 weeks after a small bout of pneumonia was cleared with Respiratory. Then lots of clots in a 3 days flush foley catheter out of nowhere. Then 3 days later off the g-tube and eating by mouth for 3 days calorie count and discharged walking out. Amazing Grace. God spoke to me when everything first happened He said "He is going to raise him up and he will be resilient." Well he certainly did that... To His Full Glory, Credit and Faithfulness. Alleluia. He will love this print. Thank you so much.

This piece done in shades of gray offers us contrast of truth and witness as Jesus writes in the sand. This story is about six months away from the Crucifixion. It is a turning point in Jesus' own spiritual commitment to mercy for a sinner and the need for the Cross for all the sinners in this story. Reminding us that God sees motives, circumstances, and the heart of us in our stories. This art depiction of grace and judgment is in the hands of the only One who will eventually go to the Cross for all the nuances and sins in this shades of gray story for all humanity. The woman the crowd wanted to stone and crowd who was not in a position to judge given their own sins; Jesus will be the witness and truth that gives us all freedom, mercy, and grace because of the Cross. The artistic use of grays and contrasts captures the juxtaposition of this theology in art very well!!
Beautiful work of art. I have it on the wall right next to my bed. It reminds me when I wake up that Jesus knows everything about all of us, good and bad, and therefore I try not to judge or look at others in a negative light.
This will be perfect on my little table when I frame this next to my Bible. Just like what is written on the back, Vanessa put it beautifully that Jesus was writing my name.

This is a beautiful sketch. Even though we don’t know exactly what Jesus wrote, we know it went straight to the heart of the accusers. He is The Living Word that goes straight to our hearts.

Going on painting #3; touching the Tzitzit (fringes or tassles) that were attached to the four corners of a Jewish man's garment and in this painting this was the prayer shawl of Jesus. The practice of wearing tzitzit is a reminder to stay focused on God.

I so love Vanessa's work I've purchased it for myself, for our church, and as gifts. This print is for one of our Sunday School classes, and I'll add a Bible verse with it as we work with Native Americans and want them to understand the power of love of Jesus for their lives.
